Wight : What a festival !

The island of Wight is situated on the south coast of England in front of Southampton and Portsmouth. This "small" island is the theater of numerous events and the other excursions addressing all publics. We can among others quote the Week of Cowes (one of the most prestigious international regatta ), the Museum of the Dinosaur, the Reserve of Tigers and the Big Cats, Osborne House, the Art Glass factory(making) of Glory, The Long Stone...Each will find the happiness on Wight where the dullness is not acceptable.!

Surface areas : 381 sq.kms.

Population : 138 000 inhabitants

Particularity: At the end of the 60s with the breaker of the movement Hippy, the fashion of the pop festivals took a big scale. From 1968 till 1970 the festival of Wight collected near a million persons around symbolic artists of a whole generation: Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, the Who... In 2002, Wight boosts its festival and it was the success . The last event (in June, 2006) saw famous pop rock artists who cannot be ignored ,like Coldplay or Richard Ashcroft.
