Sicily is the biggest island of the Mediterranean Sea. The heritage of the island increased in the course of the centuries by the various influences of the famous Mediterranean civilizations. Particularity : It is impossible to speak about Sicily without evoking Etna. This volcano is not only the biggest of Europe due to its surface (1250 sq.km), due to its height (3350 m) but it is also one of the most active (last flow of lava in 2006).
