Martinique : Flower of Caribeans

Presentation

A range of colors, smells, a crossroads of exchanges and cultures, a contrasted and crossed earth, Martinique is everything and its opposite and it is what what makes its wealth. The North is volcanic and luxuriant while in the South made of long beaches, peaceful, letting augur sea bed of an exceptional beauty. In the air a flavor of rum mixes relaxed rhythm of life and nostalgia. Martinique, it is also a heritage with extraordinary places of memory as the mosaics in the church of Case-Pilote, the"Morne Vert" nested at feet of peaks Carbet, paths of the "Track of the North", garden of Balata...

Population : 400 000 inhabitants

Particularity :  During the Napoleonic Wars, the English people seized the "Rock of the Diamond". The French people repossessed the rock without any trouble having sent barrels of rum on the island. The English people were not able to resist!  Even today, the rock appears as British territory on sea charts.
