Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Basse-Terre and Grande Terre make up the island of Guadeloupe. Basse-Terre is mountainous, luxuriant, mysterious and disturbing. It is the home of the 1467 m high volcano, La Soufrière. Meanwhile, Grande-Terre is the sunnier side of Guadeloupe with its white sand beaches, coconut trees, lagoons, and green hills.
Mystery and light, there is no doubt that everyone can find happiness in Guadeloupe.

Distinctive Characteristic : In Guadeloupe, the Carnival begins at Epiphany and ends the evening of Ash Wednesday. From the beginning of January, different groups sing, dance and march in the streets until the final “fat” days. This is the successful conclusion of months of preparation which ends with fireworks rich in colors, laughter and music.
